Pettersen, Poulter master match play

Pettersen, Poulter master match play

A split second after her 15-foot birdie putt curled left and disappeared into the hole on No. 18, Suzann Pettersen thrust both hands skyward in celebration and seemed to exhale in relief. The victory drought was over.Pettersen ended 20 months of frustration and near misses by beating Cristie Kerr 1-up to win the Sybase Match Play Championship on Sunday.“It’s 20 Fila Korea Buys Titleist For Global Expansion months, but it doesn’t feel like 20 months,” said Pettersen. “It feel like a lot longer. But like I said yesterday, I had some great tournaments except winning, and I can finally put a dot over the i, and it’s just the tip of the iceberg. It doesn’t get much better than that.”Pettersen wasn’t handed this one, either. She beat Natalie Gulbis, Amy Hung, Stacy Lewis, No. 1 ranked Yani Tseng, No. 5 Na Yeon Choi and the No. 4 Kerr in winning for the seventh time on the LPGA Tour.Leading 1-up and with Kerr facing a 10-foot birdie attempt on the par-5 18th, the 30-year-old Norwegian curled in the left to-right 15-footer for birdie to seal the victory on the cold, damp TaylorMade R9 Fairway Wood adopt Latest technology overcast day.“It’s a situation you want to be when you love the pressure,” Pettersen said. “There’s nothing better than winning a match play event.”Pettersen never trailed in the match in winning for the first time since the Canadian Women’s Open in September 2009.Kerr had her putter to blame for failing to win for the 15th time on tour. The American missed four putts of less than 10 feet — all for hole victories.“Putting on the back nine killed me,” Kerr said.

Westwood produced a blitz of birdies to thrash Anders Hansen

Westwood produced a blitz of birdies to thrash Anders Hansen

Westwood started with a bogey on the par-4 first but found his range with the putter to make six birdies between the fourth and 11th holes, overwhelming his Danish opponent.Rory McIlroy won his Day 1 match, 1 up, over Retief Goosen. (Getty Images)“If you get on a winning run where you’re in contention a lot and finishing it off, that works wonders for your confidence and you start getting in that habit. But I’ve seen enough ups and downs in golf to know that you don’t take good play for granted. You have to work constantly at it.”Westwood plays Australia’s Aaron Baddeley on Friday in his second group match.Donald, who beat Kaymer to win the Accenture World Match Play in Arizona in February, again showed his pedigree in the one-on-one format by cruising past Ryan Moore, 4 and 3, in Group B.Birdies at the third, fourth and seventh holes put the TaylorMade Burner 2.0 irons Can Creat A Special Swing second-ranked Donald 3 up, and two more at No. 14 and No. 15 saw off the challenge of the only American player in the 24-man field.“I haven’t had too many disappointments in match play. I enjoy the format and I’ve been very successful in it,” said Donald, who has finished in the top 10 in 13 of his last 14 events. “I continued the form I’ve been playing the last few months. I’d put it in the solid category.”Donald needs to win the tournament and hope Westwood doesn’t make the final if he is to climb to No. 1 for the first time. Kaymer, meanwhile, requires Westwood to be eliminated before the semifinals to return to the top of the rankings. The third-ranked German was 2 down to Y.E. Yang by the 11th but won the next four holes to complete a 2-and-1 win on the 17th.Only two players lost to lower-ranked opponents on a day of few genuine shocks at the hilly, par-72 course.Ninth-ranked Paul Casey lost, 3 and 1, to Spain’s Alvaro Quiros, the world No. 26, in a battle of the big hitters and Masters champion Charl Schwartzel was thrashed, 6 and 5, by Miguel Angel Jimenez.Schwartzel is trying to emulate his fellow South Africans Gary Player and Ernie Els, who won the tournament 12 times between them. But he bogeyed the opening two holes and failed to match the consistency of Jimenez, who was born in nearby Malaga but is playing this course for the first time.Jimenez didn’t drop a shot for the entire round.

Review Of New World Order

Review Of New World Order

Lee Westwood,April New World Order: 6
Look, he's not the first guy to be ranked numero uno in the OWGR before he won a major championship, and last week's win in South Korea was a sanctioned European Tour victory. There has been no better player over the last Golf Difficulties Send Romo To Regular Job two years than Westwood, who has piled up wins in South Africa, Asia and the States since last summer. That alone ought to engender more global love than he's been getting. The guy must pack a helluva suitcase. Luke Donald.Donald has been picking up mojo in the States because he's a member of the U.S. tour, and therefore, he's been rolling up wins and top 10s against deeper fields than has Westwood. Interestingly, at age 33, Donald is just entering his prime years and gave the Masters jacket a terrific run down the stretch. He doesn't make many mistakes, especially compared to flying Wallendas like Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson. The way Donald has played in 2011, easily a career year, it's a surprise when he isn't on the Sunday board.
Bubba Watson,April New World Order: 2. Half the players on this list are more consistent. If you like players who deliver steady results, then skip Watson and proceed to Donald and Kuchar, a pair of top-10 machines. Befitting his admitted ADD affliction, Watson is unpredictably fantastic, and no other American has piled up three wins since last summer. Splitting hairs here, but he also lost in a playoff at the PGA Championship, so that's almost like another victory. As Curtis Strange put it before the Masters, "Nobody on the Most Forgiving K15 Driver Recommend by Starsplanet has improved more than he has in the last few months." Nobody on the planet is arguing the point. Rory McIlroy.April New World Order: 10. Go ahead, roll your eyes. Overrated? That's your opinion. But can you name another player who has had a chance to win the past two majors on the back nine on Sunday? We'll wait. Sure, McIlroy needs some fine-tuning, especially with this putting game under duress. But he led the PGA Championship with about 90 minutes left to play and held the 54-hole lead at Augusta. He needs to clean up the Sunday scorecard, and when he does, Ireland will have yet another major champion. Defends his title this week in Charlotte. Matt Kuchar.April New World Order: 5. Everybody loves victories. They are easy to understand, easier to remember, easier to digest. True, Matt Kuchar led the PGA Tour in earnings last year, but only had one win. Well, in some fashion, consistency must be acknowledged. Now playing in the best events in the game, against the best fields, Kuchar has not missed a cut since exactly one year ago this week, and continues to demonstrate that he's not going to fade away anytime soon.

Tony Romo disqulified for U.S. Open

Tony Romo disqulified for U.S. Open

The road to Congressional has begun for U.S. Open hopefuls, but a well-known Dallas Cowboy will not be getting past a stage he flew through a year ago.Tony Romo, who shot a 2-under 69 last year to get through local qualifying before Callaway X22 Review at Pickgolfclubs.com pulling out of his sectionals because weather was pushing it into football practice, couldn't recreate the magic on Monday at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club, posting a 9-over 81.It shouldn't surprise anyone that Romo wasn't able to get it going again, because qualifying for tournaments is one of the hardest things in golf, and the fact that it was windy at the course probably played into him struggling throughout the day, but I still love that Romo is out there trying to compete. Sure, the guy has priorities on the football field, but with how screwed up things are with the NFL right now, at least Romo is able to get out there with the boys and try to make some noise on the golf course.
Also, Romo actually has to fork up money for this thing, giving him just as much of a reason to be out there as anyone else that can post a sub-par round when he's golfing with his friends. Unlike John Smoltz and Jerry Rice, who took sponsors invites to play in Nationwide events, only to fall flat on their faces, Romo pays and plays just like all the rest of the guys out there, and this didn't just start when he became famous. I remember playing in a group behind Romo during a Byron Nelson qualifier a few years back when he was just a back-up for the Cowboys that hardly anyone out at the course had heard of, so add that to the list of Romo stories that show he's just a regular guy trying to have some fun.My qualifier is in one week, and my one goal is to beat Romo's 81. I think I can do it. If I do that, my next goal: date an extremely famous country singer. That one might be tougher.

In high school, he qualified for the CIF North Coast Section Championships.“If he has a good day, he can make it to state,” Wiechers said last week at Eagle Vines Vineyards and Golf Club.Salum played well in the first half of the season and is looking to make some corrections with his driver, so that his tee shots find the fairways.

Kinloch golf resort will on the market again

Kinloch golf resort will on the market again

The world-class Jack Nicklaus-designed course and surrounding residential development have been put up for sale by international tender by their owners, the wealthy Van Den Brink poultry farming family. If sold when tenders close on May 19 it will mark the third time the property has changed hands since the legendary American golfer and 18-time major champion Nicklaus helped open the facility in 2007. Now, the future of the property Tiger Is Far From Finished on PGA Tour is unclear, with the Van Den Brinks wanting out barely 12 months after buying the course and development land. While Kinloch is rated by many knowledgeable judges to be among the best, if not the best, golf course in New Zealand, its brief history has been dotted with controversy associated with the housing development. The course was sold by Hanover Finance for $26 million at a mortgagee sale in June, 2008, to Coromandel Investment Trustees (CIT) shortly before the development owners, Kinloch Golf Resort Ltd, whose shareholders included Nicklaus, went into liquidation owing $49m. Hanover lent to CIT before it struck major problems itself and had a heavy debt burden when bought out by rural services company Allied Farmers. Allied Farmers, which inherited the CIT loan, in turn sold the development to the Van Den Brinks. Although the stalled subdivision development has seemingly placed the course itself at risk, one senior golf industry insider and former real estate figure predicts the highly-rated, 6734m par-72 layout will survive. The course has attracted rave reviews in its short history, with US Travel and Leisure Golf Magazine including it among its top 10 new golf courses in the world in 2007, and New Zealand great Sir Bob Charles this year identifying it as the best course in this country. "For those unable to play the great links courses of Scotland, Kinloch compares with the best of them," he said. Michael Pleciak of selling agents Bayleys said the sale had generated plenty of domestic and international interest.

Lee Westwood's Goal- To Win A Major Championship

Lee Westwood's Goal- To Win A Major Championship

The 38-year-old, the subject of sniping from the United States when he was elevated to the top of the world rankings after winning last week's Indonesian Masters, bagged the European Tour-sanctioned Ballantine's Championship by a stroke on Sunday. The first reigning number one to play in Korea, Westwood needed a top-five finish at the Blackstone Golf Club to remain top of the rankings but his flawless final five-under-par 67 made the calculations redundant. "It was very tough out there and to go around without making a Review of TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 2.0 Series bogey, five birdies and 13 pars was a special round of golf I think. "Professional golf is all about winning, and it's great to do it back-to-back two weeks in a row." "When you're number one it's always nice to come to a place and play like the world number one and I think I did do this week," the Briton told a news conference after his victory. Some have questioned Westwood's position as number one given he has yet to win one of golf's four major championships. The Englishman betrayed irritation at the question before the start of the Ballantine's but reiterated afterwards that it remained his main target.
"My next goal is to win a major championship," he said. "It's the dream of all professional golfers to get to number one in the world rankings, and I've done that. "I haven't won a major yet and that's the missing thing. So that's what I gave all my practice towards and my scheduling. That's the next thing, hopefully." Westwood's satisfaction at winning back-to-back was unmistakable. “It's good to show everyone why you are in that position,” said the world No 1. The hilly Blackstone course presented a physical challenge to all the players but Westwood, once one of the heavier players in the world game, said retaining focus was a bigger test for him these days.

Golf clubs are great places to meet new people and mix with friends. It’s a game that can be played by the whole family.
Being a stationary ball sport it can be easy to learn the basics. But to become good at golf requires some effort to understand the swing, and mental discipline to ingrain the lessons learned into your game. Most golf clubs, although much more relaxed than they used to be, have a casual dress code. Turning up relatively smart each time means a slight effort is made with regards to appearance. Taking trouble about the way you look sometimes requires effort. That’s a good thing.More than anything else golf teaches someone to keep going for the full round. Whatever we do in life, if we can learn to keep going, and keep trying, it can only be good for our mental health. Overall it will add to our happiness.

Perfect Opportunity to for Tiger Woods

Perfect Opportunity to for Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods learned a lot from The Masters as well. He will never admit it but the comment by McIlroy had to give him a not so gentle kick in pants. Woods was no longer feared. A 21-year-old kid was not shaking in his golf shoes as the final round approached. Woods was once again motivated and inspired.
Tiger Woods found his swagger in the last round of The Masters and it looks like it will be a matter of time until he tallies his next PGA major event. Dustin Johnson Requires A New Caddies Many were writing off Rory McIlroy after his devastating failure at the Augusta National Golf Course but McIlroy hopped right back on his horse and stormed to the lead in the first event following his crushing defeat.Woods won the last event he played on the course. The 2009 AT&T National was won by an aggressive Tiger Woods that year. With a golf major on the line this June, this could be Woods perfect opportunity to break his drought and pick up his 15th major.Who will challenge Tiger Woods? This course will mesh well with Rory McIlroy's style. He will be one of five golfers that will be capable of challenging Tiger Woods in the 2011 U.S. Open. McIlroy will face the toughest challenge of his life if the two are the final pairing coming down the stretch on Day 4 of the U.S. Open. Who will win? Woods will be the first of the two to win a major and it will happen at the U.S. Open this June.

Is Martin Kaymer Falling from His No. 1 Perch?

Is Martin Kaymer Falling from His No. 1 Perch?

A true top golfer is in contention when they are on the course. They are respected by all, and they have the wins to back it up. While Martin Kaymer has a major, and has Woods Wins But Not Tiger a win in this season, he still lacks the consistency when he plays in America. But what has come of Kaymer since? He just posted his highest finish as the world's best golfer, tying for ninth at the Maybank Malasian Open. Other than that, Kaymer has tied for 24th in the Cadillac Championship, a T20 at the Transitions, and a missed cut at the Masters. Now, let's not get too ludicrous with comparisons, but when Tiger Woods held the top spot in golf, he missed only two major cuts. Like I said, it's tough to compare to Tiger Woods, but being the number one player in the world isn't all it's cut out to beA true top golfer is in contention when they are on the course. Schwartzel Senior had partnered three-time major champion

Schwartzel Senior had partnered three-time major champion

Schwartzel Senior had partnered three-time major champion Ernie Els to victory in a better-ball tournament held in South Africa in 1987. "My dad used to play on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. I used to caddie for him on the Wednesday Tiger Said The Swing Change Does Work and Saturday competitions and played with him on Fridays, so that's how it started," Charl recalls. In an exclusive chat with TOI, the new Masters champion talks about his past, present, future and much more. Excerpts: Did you have time to celebrate properly? Not really. They kept us awake quite late at Augusta, meeting with people and clicking pictures and stuff. Then we flew next morning to New York. Two hours. Sat there for two more hours. Flew to London, six-and-a-half hours. Three hours sitting there. And then to Kuala Lumpur, another 12 hours, for the Malaysian Open. There was no time.
Your friend (defending British Open champion) Louis Oosthuizen said the first thing he did was buy his dad a tractor. Do you have similar ideas too after grabbing the Green Jacket? More chickens, maybe! I've not had time to think what I'll do. I don't know yet. Were you inspired by any other golfer besides your dad to take up the sport? Yeah, Gary Player and Ernie (Els) were my heroes as I was growing up. My father has been my mentor although I have asked for help from some other coaches on tour. Now that I have won the Masters I feel that maybe I can hold my own against anybody.

The power in your golf swing is your core

The power in your golf swing is your core

Your core is the engine to your swing. If your core is weak or inflexible, you will never be able to hit a powerful tee shot. This is harsh…but very true! The modern power golf swing is one of being “connected” with your upper body. Not letting Tiger Woods Teaches Korean Youth Golfers your letting your arms get separated from your body. Rotating your upper body as a whole, over a somewhat stable lower body will produce maximum power at impact. So the perfect power golf exercises involve rotational movements with resistance in your core area. The are many exercises you can do that will dramatically improve your driving distance and power…and no gym required! As you can see above…the key is ROTATIONAL exercises with resistance, whether it be a single dumbbell, exercise tubing or even a weighted golf club.
Doesn’t matter what you use, as long as it is up to 5 pounds in weight and you can handle it easily in both hands. If you’re already in good shape go for 10-15 pounds and increase your rate of speed. This will both improve your “fast-twitch” core muscles and also your range of motion for a bigger backswing and a complete follow through.

Buzz Bissinger has become a notable sports writer in America

Buzz Bissinger has become a notable sports writer in America due in large part to his Friday Night Lights. (The television adaptation of the show will have its final season aired on NBC starting soon.) Perhaps the bright lights of high school football have blinded the author into a misunderstanding of how Sundays work in golf.Bissinger, writing for The Daily Beast, penned a brief essay entitled “Tiger Woods is never coming back.” In it, Bissinger says the Tiger Woods Teaches Korean Youth Golfers front nine charge by Tiger Woods on Sunday at the Masters – a charge I was witness to – was a mere mirage of the old Woods, presented falsely to observers of the game as an indication of imminent brilliance from the beleaguered golfer. But the moment on Sunday did not last, and there was an inevitability to that. Since he crashed his car on Nov. 27, 2009, outside his home in Orlando, and the subsequent revelations that he had been on the bimbo tour with even more intensity than the PGA golf tour, he has never been the same.Plain and simple, the guy was fading long before a whole lot of people who didn’t know any better had their hearts broken for thinking Tiger was more American than apple pie and more pure than fresh snow. And the lessons he is going through to perhaps – key word, perhaps – regain some measure of what he lost thanks to Father Time, knee surgeries galore, YE Yang and a failed marriage, will take a while to sink in and stick.

Woods running out of time to catch Nicklaus

Woods running out of time to catch Nicklaus

All you have to do is look at the calendar to understand that.Woods, just 35, is still a very young man. But going out and playing a sport — even shuffleboard — is very different from, well, sitting on your bottom all day and typing out Word documents. Woods is on the downside of his career. Not many athletes are great past that magical age.To use the example What Is Wrong With American Golfer of the man Woods is chasing for the most victories in major championships, Jack Nicklaus won 14 of his 18 prior to turning 36.That still gives Woods a good crack at beating the record, and his showing at the recent Masters gives those in his corner hope he will be able to do that.Woods won 14 majors in the 12-year period from 1997-2008. Certainly, duplicating that feat is unrealistic.Nicklaus won two majors in 1975, at age 35, and one more before he turned 40. He won three majors — capped by the magnificent 1986 Masters at age 46 — before his championship run ran out.Woods may well use his Masters finish as a springboard to championships in the rest of this year’s majors — the U.S. Open, British Open and PGA Championship. He may well win long after that. It just won’t be the prolonged run it was before.

Golfers inspire their fans do some meaningful things

"I wrote them both letters and, since they're honorary starters, I just thought it was very nice and generous of Mr. Palmer to ask Mr. Nicklaus to join him," Bowman said. "Typically, there's one starter at a time. Mr.Nicklaus was so accommodating. I just said I enjoyed working at the Masters, and I was wondering if they would be so kind to Masters May Need To Beware Flying Balls sign my 10-year anniversary pin flag."And just before the par-3 tournament on Wednesday, Bowman got that meeting, and autograph, with Nicklaus - who was even more than Bowman had envisioned."Mr. Nicklaus said it was rare he receives letters of this caliber, and he said he really wanted to accommodate me," Bowman said. "We spoke about his career and the Masters and what it meant to him and other personal things. It was a nice chat. You can imagine that when Mr. Nicklaus comes out of the clubhouse, quite a few people approached him. He was gracious."Like all volunteers, Bowman pays his own expenses, but he has a friend, Dan Rich, whom allows Bowman and his family to stay at his house. Bowman takes everyone out for dinner each night. But last Tuesday, the power went out and didn't return until Thursday. They ate by candlelight.
Being a volunteer entitles Bowman to play Augusta every year. He's played nine times and his best score at Augusta National is a 95."There's one word for that course - humbling," Bowman said. His favorite part of the week was watching the mechanical leaderboard changes, and there were many, on the back nine Sunday.

The Masters thinking

The Masters thinking

I know The Masters apologized. But it's important to note here that Augusta is about the last bastion in the world where a female reporter would be subject to this kind of thing, mistake or not. The guy who apologized probably had his fingernails pulled out first. With that in mind, and my lengthy history with the tournament and female sportswriters, I hereby present the evolution of a typical Augusta National member on the subject of equal rights for Masters Match All About The Traditional Game women. Here's how they get to where they are:I don't think women should be allowed in the locker room at the Masters.I don't think women should be allowed to have pads of paper, pencils or pens.I don't think women should be allowed to ask questions at news conferences.I don't think women should be allowed to attend news conferences.I don't think women should be allowed to get press credentials for the Masters.I don't think women should be allowed to buy tickets to the Masters.I don't think women should be allowed to get inside the gates at the Masters.I don't think women should be allowed to rent a car or take a cab in Augusta, Ga.I don't think women should be allowed in Augusta.
I don't think women should be allowed to transfer planes at the Atlanta airport.I don't think women should be allowed to deplane at the Atlanta Masters May Need To Beware Flying Balls airport.I don't think women should be allowed to land at the Atlanta airport.I don't think women should be allowed to land anywhere in Georgia.I don't think women should be allowed to fly over the great state of Georgia.I don't think women should be allowed on airplanes.I don't think airplanes that allow women should not be allowed to take off.I don't think women should be allowed within five miles of the airport, kind of like those no gun zones near schools.

You Don't Have to Dress the Part to Play the Game

You Don't Have to Dress the Part to Play the Game

"We don't look that part," said senior Gabriel Rowland. "We just go out there and play with our clubs, and it doesn't matter what we look like."To take a first glance at the group of Texans, many would assume the team doesn't fit the mold, the image The Common Point Of Woods And Nicklaus of a golfer, let alone a champion.Last week Trevino and company celebrated their passion with a victory. Ray High School boys golf won their first district tournament in more than a couple decade (according to CCISD Athletic Office)."I've been here the past four years, and it seemed we could never reach the peak of our potential until now," said Rowland. "Sure enough, my senior year, it finally happened and we put it all together.""It feels so good, because we're a part of history," said Gutierrez. "Now, I hope we can keep it up and get a three-pear in the near future."With only one senior graduating, the current Ray roster includes three sophomores and a junior. Each of those four will be back next year, joined by much-hyped incoming freshman Marcus Flores. The current 8th-grader at Hamlin Middle School has won each of his past 9 tournaments. It's no wonder the Texans are the talk of the district. And that's not just because of their laid-back attire.
"We don't exactly dress or look the part," said junior Joseph Hoskins. "When it comes down to it, we show who we are; because, the true golfer is on the inside, not the outside."Ray will compete in the Region IV-4A Tournament April 20-21 at San Antonio's Pecan Valley Golf Course. Joining the Texans is the Alice boys team, who finished runner-up at district.

What is the most important thing Rory McIlroy has to do?

What is the most important thing Rory McIlroy has to do?

What is the most important thing Rory McIlroy has to do tomorrow to win the green jacket? (And I mean one thing. Not keep his emotions under control and putt well. It's either keep his emotions under control, or putt well, or drive well, or get through the front nine even par, or birdie all the par 5s ...)Rory needs to remain aggressive, try to make birdies when Powerful Youth At The Masters the opportunity presents. Stay away from the four corners, Rory.He needs to remember that gods and immortals don't win majors. Human beings win majors, and far more ordinary human beings than him — flawed, nervous human beings have done so.Just be himself and stay comfortable out there. Having Graeme McDowell following him will help. G-Mac sure knew how to stay loose at the U.S. Open. Of course, in this space, I've also predicted Mickelson (T18) would win, that Rory Sabbatini (MC) would be a darkhorse, and that Tiger was going to make his move Saturday (74).All he has to do stand on that first tee and think about the fame, money and endorsements he'll rake in if he wins it. Wait, I answered the wrong question. That's what you don't do, Rory.Hit greens in regulation. Doing that will keep the big numbers off his card and put pressure on Cabrera and his other pursuers to do something amazing. All he has to do, is birdie three par 5s, which gives him slack to shoot 70. Do this, and no one will catch him. He can jig up 18 like Michael Flatley. A great (Irish) American victory.Rory needs to set a goal. Any goal. A score, a swing thought, anything to keep him in the precious present.

Padraig Harrington was disqualified from the tournament

Padraig Harrington was disqualified from the tournament

Harrington was kicked out of the European Tour competition in Abu Dhabi in January after a television viewer, watching coverage in high definition, phoned in to complain about the movement of a ball as the Irishman removed his ball marker on a green. The player himself knew nothing of the offence; when it came to light, he was disqualified for Choose Good Golf Grip For Nice Control signing for the wrong score as penalty strokes had not been added. With increased and enhanced scrutiny afforded on account of broadcast coverage, the changing face of the game has been officially acknowledged. Now, players cannot be disqualified because of "facts that he didn't know and could not reasonably have discovered prior to returning his scorecard". Rather, applicable stroke penalties will be added to a score retrospectively.Peter Dawson, the chief executive of the R&A, explained: "For some time we have been concerned that, in certain limited circumstances, disproportional disqualification penalties have been required by the rules. At the time of his aberration, Harrington said he was helpless. "In slow motion it's pretty clear the ball has moved three dimples forward and it's come back maybe a dimple and a half," he said. "If I'd called a referee over it would have been pointless because if he'd asked me where my ball was I'd have said it was there. As far as I was concerned it didn't move."

Tiger Woods has plenty of time to determine his legacy

Tiger Woods has plenty of time to determine his legacy

My wife said to me: What is the matter with everybody? Tiger knows better than anybody every single thing that he has lost and that he’ll never get back. But everybody feels like it’s their job to remind him. We all have problems. He’s in therapy. Good. Child prodigy. Driven parents. Act perfect. Never rebel. Live in a golf bubble. Black star, white sport. That’s not a great way to grow up. I hope he gets his game back. Then Nicklaus showed for the 25th anniversary and said much the same thing: “I feel bad for Tiger. I feel bad for his family. I feel bad that he Tiger May Still Deny His Private Life got himself in that position. I think that we’re taught to have forgiveness, and I wish him well. I hope he gets his game back. And I hope he comes back and plays well.” Yet it’s also Nicklaus who makes the persuasive case for why Woods should relax because he has many years to catch him. The ultra-long golf career is becoming more common. New equipment allows 300-yard drives for old-timers. Add better conditioning. Recent examples will inspire others — such as the near-misses in 2009 by Kenny Perry, then 48, at the Masters and Tom Watson, then 59, at the British Open. Nicklaus says “it’s silly” to think Vijay Singh, 48, or Fred Couples, 51, couldn’t contend here this week. First, Woods has time — and a great deal of it — on his side. Second, as he has made clearer than ever here this week, his radical changes are more necessity than obsession. An excellent analysis in Golf Digest of Woods’s four swings with four teachers, including his teenage swing, shows (to me, at least) that his 2000 Tiger Slam swing with Butch Harmon was probably the purest and best by far. Why ever change? He had to.

Hope is never gone:Japanese victims still trying to recover

Still recovering from the largest earthquake to rock the country of Japan, residents are preparing to adjust to a new lifestyle with recent scares of radiation and aftershocks. While firefighters are still trying to relieve the concern by spraying water over nuclear power plants in an attempt to avert a meltdown, Japan raised the accident level at the damaged Fukushima Nuclear Plant from four to five on a seven-point international danger scale for automatic Martin Laird Also Hold American Dream accidents. With news of the earthquake no longer plastered across the CNN screen, it is important to remember that Japan is still in recovery mode from the earthquake. Residents are still finding places to live and looking for those still missing.  The confirmed death toll from the disaster sits at 7,348 and 11,746 people are listed as missing as of Saturday, according to BBC News.Around 50 U.S. military personnel on Wednesday started cleaning up mud and debris at a school in Ishinomaki in cooperation with local people. Walker ties course record as big names tune up for Masters

American Jimmy Walker stole the limelight from a clutch of big name stars tuning up for next week's U.S. Masters as he tied the course record to lead the Houston Open after the first round.Walker carded a nine-under 63 Thursday to take a two-shot lead over Australian Nick O'Hern and Josh Teater. The previous record had been set by Johnson Wagner Augusta National And Jack Nicklaus and Australia's Adam Scott in the opening round of the 2008 staging of the PGA Tour event. In a good omen for Walker, Wagner went on to win that year.Walker wielded a hot putter and needed just 23 putts as he finished his round without a bogey."When you putt well, it cures a lot of ills, for sure," said Walker, who has three top-10 finishes this season.World number two Lee Westwood made a good start in his preparations for the first major of the season as he carded a four-under 68, the same mark as Ireland's Padraig Harrington.Three-time major winner Harrington is in confident mood ahead of Augusta."Absolutely I'm on schedule," he told AFP."It puts a lot Golf Courses of pressure on me. If I can get into contention and get the pressure on me this week, it will be good for next week."Reigning Masters champion Phil Mickelson attracted a big Texas gallery and rewarded them with a two-under 70.He attempted to change his driver during his round after detecting a small crack in it, but after a consultation with a rules official had to carry on with his original.

Do you think tiger woods will win US Masters Golf Tournament

Do you think tiger woods will win US Masters Golf Tournament

The US Masters golf tournament will take place at the Augusta National Golf Club from April 7th, and bookmakers have installed Tiger Woods as the winner of the competition.Bet365, for example, is offering odds of 15/2 that Woods will win the tournament, but the question is whether he deserves this position. For one, Woods hasn't won a single major golf tournament since he fell from public grace at the end of 2009.It was then that a Pandora's box Webb Finds Serenity And Wins On Golf Course of infidelities was opened and the world-champ went into self imposed exile that lasted for four months.Since he has returned to the circuit, Woods has hardly lived up to this former championship status.Prior to his break from the game, he won fourteen major championships, but since he returned, he has lost fifteen straight tournaments. He is now ranked number five in the world, behind Martin Kaymer (Germany), Lee Westwood and Luke Donald (UK) and Graeme McDowell of Ireland.

Teach Kids Golf Values

Teach Kids Golf Values

Integrity, courtesy, respect--all are values we want to see in our kids. One Colorado group is trying to teach children these values through the game of golf. The PGA Golf in Schools program paid a visit to Orchard Avenue Elementary today.Golfers were on hand to meet the kids and show them how the same values they use on the green apply to life."Golf is a great game," says Mike Mendelson from Bookcliff Country Club. "People that play the game know the values that are incorporated into the game--honesty, integrity. It also teaches them how to count, all sorts of great stuff that goes with the game."Golf in School is a state-wide program that's beginning to visit schools from Grand Junction to Colorado Springs. It's offered at no fee to the students or the school. If the program is a hit at Orchard Avenue Elementary, organizers hope to put it in place in more District 51 schools next year.
