South Bradford Golf Club now turning their attention to the women’s game. They have launched a campaign to encourage female participation in the sport with the help of England Golf, who, it is hoped, will provide funding for the scheme as well as their slogan ‘Get Fit, Get Active, Get Golfing’. The club is due to hold nine golfing events and three social engagements throughout next month, and are encouraging local women to Golf No.1 Lee Westood Annoyed By Discussing Not Enough Titles give the game and their club a try. One of the experiences on offer is a Women’s Golf Taster Day on Sunday, May 8 between 2pm and 4pm, which is designed to introduce any women to the sport who may not have played it before. No previous involvement in the sport is necessary and equipment is provided, with prospective visitors being encouraged to wear flat shoes and comfortable clothing. Golf clubs are great places to meet new people and mix with friends. It’s a game that can be played by the whole family.
Being a stationary ball sport it can be easy to learn the basics. But to become good at golf requires some effort to understand the swing, and mental discipline to ingrain the lessons learned into your game. Most golf clubs, although much more relaxed than they used to be, have a casual dress code. Turning up relatively smart each time means a slight effort is made with regards to appearance. Taking trouble about the way you look sometimes requires effort. That’s a good thing.More than anything else golf teaches someone to keep going for the full round. Whatever we do in life, if we can learn to keep going, and keep trying, it can only be good for our mental health. Overall it will add to our happiness.

Perfect Opportunity to for Tiger Woods

Perfect Opportunity to for Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods learned a lot from The Masters as well. He will never admit it but the comment by McIlroy had to give him a not so gentle kick in pants. Woods was no longer feared. A 21-year-old kid was not shaking in his golf shoes as the final round approached. Woods was once again motivated and inspired.
Tiger Woods found his swagger in the last round of The Masters and it looks like it will be a matter of time until he tallies his next PGA major event. Dustin Johnson Requires A New Caddies Many were writing off Rory McIlroy after his devastating failure at the Augusta National Golf Course but McIlroy hopped right back on his horse and stormed to the lead in the first event following his crushing defeat.Woods won the last event he played on the course. The 2009 AT&T National was won by an aggressive Tiger Woods that year. With a golf major on the line this June, this could be Woods perfect opportunity to break his drought and pick up his 15th major.Who will challenge Tiger Woods? This course will mesh well with Rory McIlroy's style. He will be one of five golfers that will be capable of challenging Tiger Woods in the 2011 U.S. Open. McIlroy will face the toughest challenge of his life if the two are the final pairing coming down the stretch on Day 4 of the U.S. Open. Who will win? Woods will be the first of the two to win a major and it will happen at the U.S. Open this June.

Is Martin Kaymer Falling from His No. 1 Perch?

Is Martin Kaymer Falling from His No. 1 Perch?

A true top golfer is in contention when they are on the course. They are respected by all, and they have the wins to back it up. While Martin Kaymer has a major, and has Woods Wins But Not Tiger a win in this season, he still lacks the consistency when he plays in America. But what has come of Kaymer since? He just posted his highest finish as the world's best golfer, tying for ninth at the Maybank Malasian Open. Other than that, Kaymer has tied for 24th in the Cadillac Championship, a T20 at the Transitions, and a missed cut at the Masters. Now, let's not get too ludicrous with comparisons, but when Tiger Woods held the top spot in golf, he missed only two major cuts. Like I said, it's tough to compare to Tiger Woods, but being the number one player in the world isn't all it's cut out to beA true top golfer is in contention when they are on the course. Schwartzel Senior had partnered three-time major champion

Schwartzel Senior had partnered three-time major champion

Schwartzel Senior had partnered three-time major champion Ernie Els to victory in a better-ball tournament held in South Africa in 1987. "My dad used to play on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. I used to caddie for him on the Wednesday Tiger Said The Swing Change Does Work and Saturday competitions and played with him on Fridays, so that's how it started," Charl recalls. In an exclusive chat with TOI, the new Masters champion talks about his past, present, future and much more. Excerpts: Did you have time to celebrate properly? Not really. They kept us awake quite late at Augusta, meeting with people and clicking pictures and stuff. Then we flew next morning to New York. Two hours. Sat there for two more hours. Flew to London, six-and-a-half hours. Three hours sitting there. And then to Kuala Lumpur, another 12 hours, for the Malaysian Open. There was no time.
Your friend (defending British Open champion) Louis Oosthuizen said the first thing he did was buy his dad a tractor. Do you have similar ideas too after grabbing the Green Jacket? More chickens, maybe! I've not had time to think what I'll do. I don't know yet. Were you inspired by any other golfer besides your dad to take up the sport? Yeah, Gary Player and Ernie (Els) were my heroes as I was growing up. My father has been my mentor although I have asked for help from some other coaches on tour. Now that I have won the Masters I feel that maybe I can hold my own against anybody.

The power in your golf swing is your core

The power in your golf swing is your core

Your core is the engine to your swing. If your core is weak or inflexible, you will never be able to hit a powerful tee shot. This is harsh…but very true! The modern power golf swing is one of being “connected” with your upper body. Not letting Tiger Woods Teaches Korean Youth Golfers your letting your arms get separated from your body. Rotating your upper body as a whole, over a somewhat stable lower body will produce maximum power at impact. So the perfect power golf exercises involve rotational movements with resistance in your core area. The are many exercises you can do that will dramatically improve your driving distance and power…and no gym required! As you can see above…the key is ROTATIONAL exercises with resistance, whether it be a single dumbbell, exercise tubing or even a weighted golf club.
Doesn’t matter what you use, as long as it is up to 5 pounds in weight and you can handle it easily in both hands. If you’re already in good shape go for 10-15 pounds and increase your rate of speed. This will both improve your “fast-twitch” core muscles and also your range of motion for a bigger backswing and a complete follow through.

Buzz Bissinger has become a notable sports writer in America

Buzz Bissinger has become a notable sports writer in America due in large part to his Friday Night Lights. (The television adaptation of the show will have its final season aired on NBC starting soon.) Perhaps the bright lights of high school football have blinded the author into a misunderstanding of how Sundays work in golf.Bissinger, writing for The Daily Beast, penned a brief essay entitled “Tiger Woods is never coming back.” In it, Bissinger says the Tiger Woods Teaches Korean Youth Golfers front nine charge by Tiger Woods on Sunday at the Masters – a charge I was witness to – was a mere mirage of the old Woods, presented falsely to observers of the game as an indication of imminent brilliance from the beleaguered golfer. But the moment on Sunday did not last, and there was an inevitability to that. Since he crashed his car on Nov. 27, 2009, outside his home in Orlando, and the subsequent revelations that he had been on the bimbo tour with even more intensity than the PGA golf tour, he has never been the same.Plain and simple, the guy was fading long before a whole lot of people who didn’t know any better had their hearts broken for thinking Tiger was more American than apple pie and more pure than fresh snow. And the lessons he is going through to perhaps – key word, perhaps – regain some measure of what he lost thanks to Father Time, knee surgeries galore, YE Yang and a failed marriage, will take a while to sink in and stick.

Woods running out of time to catch Nicklaus

Woods running out of time to catch Nicklaus

All you have to do is look at the calendar to understand that.Woods, just 35, is still a very young man. But going out and playing a sport — even shuffleboard — is very different from, well, sitting on your bottom all day and typing out Word documents. Woods is on the downside of his career. Not many athletes are great past that magical age.To use the example What Is Wrong With American Golfer of the man Woods is chasing for the most victories in major championships, Jack Nicklaus won 14 of his 18 prior to turning 36.That still gives Woods a good crack at beating the record, and his showing at the recent Masters gives those in his corner hope he will be able to do that.Woods won 14 majors in the 12-year period from 1997-2008. Certainly, duplicating that feat is unrealistic.Nicklaus won two majors in 1975, at age 35, and one more before he turned 40. He won three majors — capped by the magnificent 1986 Masters at age 46 — before his championship run ran out.Woods may well use his Masters finish as a springboard to championships in the rest of this year’s majors — the U.S. Open, British Open and PGA Championship. He may well win long after that. It just won’t be the prolonged run it was before.

"I wrote them both letters and, since they're honorary starters, I just thought it was very nice and generous of Mr. Palmer to ask Mr. Nicklaus to join him," Bowman said. "Typically, there's one starter at a time. Mr.Nicklaus was so accommodating. I just said I enjoyed working at the Masters, and I was wondering if they would be so kind to Masters May Need To Beware Flying Balls sign my 10-year anniversary pin flag."And just before the par-3 tournament on Wednesday, Bowman got that meeting, and autograph, with Nicklaus - who was even more than Bowman had envisioned."Mr. Nicklaus said it was rare he receives letters of this caliber, and he said he really wanted to accommodate me," Bowman said. "We spoke about his career and the Masters and what it meant to him and other personal things. It was a nice chat. You can imagine that when Mr. Nicklaus comes out of the clubhouse, quite a few people approached him. He was gracious."Like all volunteers, Bowman pays his own expenses, but he has a friend, Dan Rich, whom allows Bowman and his family to stay at his house. Bowman takes everyone out for dinner each night. But last Tuesday, the power went out and didn't return until Thursday. They ate by candlelight.
Being a volunteer entitles Bowman to play Augusta every year. He's played nine times and his best score at Augusta National is a 95."There's one word for that course - humbling," Bowman said. His favorite part of the week was watching the mechanical leaderboard changes, and there were many, on the back nine Sunday.

The Masters thinking

The Masters thinking

I know The Masters apologized. But it's important to note here that Augusta is about the last bastion in the world where a female reporter would be subject to this kind of thing, mistake or not. The guy who apologized probably had his fingernails pulled out first. With that in mind, and my lengthy history with the tournament and female sportswriters, I hereby present the evolution of a typical Augusta National member on the subject of equal rights for Masters Match All About The Traditional Game women. Here's how they get to where they are:I don't think women should be allowed in the locker room at the Masters.I don't think women should be allowed to have pads of paper, pencils or pens.I don't think women should be allowed to ask questions at news conferences.I don't think women should be allowed to attend news conferences.I don't think women should be allowed to get press credentials for the Masters.I don't think women should be allowed to buy tickets to the Masters.I don't think women should be allowed to get inside the gates at the Masters.I don't think women should be allowed to rent a car or take a cab in Augusta, Ga.I don't think women should be allowed in Augusta.
I don't think women should be allowed to transfer planes at the Atlanta airport.I don't think women should be allowed to deplane at the Atlanta Masters May Need To Beware Flying Balls airport.I don't think women should be allowed to land at the Atlanta airport.I don't think women should be allowed to land anywhere in Georgia.I don't think women should be allowed to fly over the great state of Georgia.I don't think women should be allowed on airplanes.I don't think airplanes that allow women should not be allowed to take off.I don't think women should be allowed within five miles of the airport, kind of like those no gun zones near schools.

You Don't Have to Dress the Part to Play the Game

"We don't look that part," said senior Gabriel Rowland. "We just go out there and play with our clubs, and it doesn't matter what we look like."To take a first glance at the group of Texans, many would assume the team doesn't fit the mold, the image The Common Point Of Woods And Nicklaus of a golfer, let alone a champion.Last week Trevino and company celebrated their passion with a victory. Ray High School boys golf won their first district tournament in more than a couple decade (according to CCISD Athletic Office)."I've been here the past four years, and it seemed we could never reach the peak of our potential until now," said Rowland. "Sure enough, my senior year, it finally happened and we put it all together.""It feels so good, because we're a part of history," said Gutierrez. "Now, I hope we can keep it up and get a three-pear in the near future."With only one senior graduating, the current Ray roster includes three sophomores and a junior. Each of those four will be back next year, joined by much-hyped incoming freshman Marcus Flores. The current 8th-grader at Hamlin Middle School has won each of his past 9 tournaments. It's no wonder the Texans are the talk of the district. And that's not just because of their laid-back attire.
"We don't exactly dress or look the part," said junior Joseph Hoskins. "When it comes down to it, we show who we are; because, the true golfer is on the inside, not the outside."Ray will compete in the Region IV-4A Tournament April 20-21 at San Antonio's Pecan Valley Golf Course. Joining the Texans is the Alice boys team, who finished runner-up at district.

What is the most important thing Rory McIlroy has to do?

What is the most important thing Rory McIlroy has to do?

What is the most important thing Rory McIlroy has to do tomorrow to win the green jacket? (And I mean one thing. Not keep his emotions under control and putt well. It's either keep his emotions under control, or putt well, or drive well, or get through the front nine even par, or birdie all the par 5s ...)Rory needs to remain aggressive, try to make birdies when Powerful Youth At The Masters the opportunity presents. Stay away from the four corners, Rory.He needs to remember that gods and immortals don't win majors. Human beings win majors, and far more ordinary human beings than him — flawed, nervous human beings have done so.Just be himself and stay comfortable out there. Having Graeme McDowell following him will help. G-Mac sure knew how to stay loose at the U.S. Open. Of course, in this space, I've also predicted Mickelson (T18) would win, that Rory Sabbatini (MC) would be a darkhorse, and that Tiger was going to make his move Saturday (74).All he has to do stand on that first tee and think about the fame, money and endorsements he'll rake in if he wins it. Wait, I answered the wrong question. That's what you don't do, Rory.Hit greens in regulation. Doing that will keep the big numbers off his card and put pressure on Cabrera and his other pursuers to do something amazing. All he has to do, is birdie three par 5s, which gives him slack to shoot 70. Do this, and no one will catch him. He can jig up 18 like Michael Flatley. A great (Irish) American victory.Rory needs to set a goal. Any goal. A score, a swing thought, anything to keep him in the precious present.

Padraig Harrington was disqualified from the tournament

Padraig Harrington was disqualified from the tournament

Harrington was kicked out of the European Tour competition in Abu Dhabi in January after a television viewer, watching coverage in high definition, phoned in to complain about the movement of a ball as the Irishman removed his ball marker on a green. The player himself knew nothing of the offence; when it came to light, he was disqualified for Choose Good Golf Grip For Nice Control signing for the wrong score as penalty strokes had not been added. With increased and enhanced scrutiny afforded on account of broadcast coverage, the changing face of the game has been officially acknowledged. Now, players cannot be disqualified because of "facts that he didn't know and could not reasonably have discovered prior to returning his scorecard". Rather, applicable stroke penalties will be added to a score retrospectively.Peter Dawson, the chief executive of the R&A, explained: "For some time we have been concerned that, in certain limited circumstances, disproportional disqualification penalties have been required by the rules. At the time of his aberration, Harrington said he was helpless. "In slow motion it's pretty clear the ball has moved three dimples forward and it's come back maybe a dimple and a half," he said. "If I'd called a referee over it would have been pointless because if he'd asked me where my ball was I'd have said it was there. As far as I was concerned it didn't move."

Tiger Woods has plenty of time to determine his legacy

Tiger Woods has plenty of time to determine his legacy

My wife said to me: What is the matter with everybody? Tiger knows better than anybody every single thing that he has lost and that he’ll never get back. But everybody feels like it’s their job to remind him. We all have problems. He’s in therapy. Good. Child prodigy. Driven parents. Act perfect. Never rebel. Live in a golf bubble. Black star, white sport. That’s not a great way to grow up. I hope he gets his game back. Then Nicklaus showed for the 25th anniversary and said much the same thing: “I feel bad for Tiger. I feel bad for his family. I feel bad that he Tiger May Still Deny His Private Life got himself in that position. I think that we’re taught to have forgiveness, and I wish him well. I hope he gets his game back. And I hope he comes back and plays well.” Yet it’s also Nicklaus who makes the persuasive case for why Woods should relax because he has many years to catch him. The ultra-long golf career is becoming more common. New equipment allows 300-yard drives for old-timers. Add better conditioning. Recent examples will inspire others — such as the near-misses in 2009 by Kenny Perry, then 48, at the Masters and Tom Watson, then 59, at the British Open. Nicklaus says “it’s silly” to think Vijay Singh, 48, or Fred Couples, 51, couldn’t contend here this week. First, Woods has time — and a great deal of it — on his side. Second, as he has made clearer than ever here this week, his radical changes are more necessity than obsession. An excellent analysis in Golf Digest of Woods’s four swings with four teachers, including his teenage swing, shows (to me, at least) that his 2000 Tiger Slam swing with Butch Harmon was probably the purest and best by far. Why ever change? He had to.

American Jimmy Walker stole the limelight from a clutch of big name stars tuning up for next week's U.S. Masters as he tied the course record to lead the Houston Open after the first round.Walker carded a nine-under 63 Thursday to take a two-shot lead over Australian Nick O'Hern and Josh Teater. The previous record had been set by Johnson Wagner Augusta National And Jack Nicklaus and Australia's Adam Scott in the opening round of the 2008 staging of the PGA Tour event. In a good omen for Walker, Wagner went on to win that year.Walker wielded a hot putter and needed just 23 putts as he finished his round without a bogey."When you putt well, it cures a lot of ills, for sure," said Walker, who has three top-10 finishes this season.World number two Lee Westwood made a good start in his preparations for the first major of the season as he carded a four-under 68, the same mark as Ireland's Padraig Harrington.Three-time major winner Harrington is in confident mood ahead of Augusta."Absolutely I'm on schedule," he told AFP."It puts a lot Golf Courses of pressure on me. If I can get into contention and get the pressure on me this week, it will be good for next week."Reigning Masters champion Phil Mickelson attracted a big Texas gallery and rewarded them with a two-under 70.He attempted to change his driver during his round after detecting a small crack in it, but after a consultation with a rules official had to carry on with his original.

Do you think tiger woods will win US Masters Golf Tournament

The US Masters golf tournament will take place at the Augusta National Golf Club from April 7th, and bookmakers have installed Tiger Woods as the winner of the competition.Bet365, for example, is offering odds of 15/2 that Woods will win the tournament, but the question is whether he deserves this position. For one, Woods hasn't won a single major golf tournament since he fell from public grace at the end of 2009.It was then that a Pandora's box Webb Finds Serenity And Wins On Golf Course of infidelities was opened and the world-champ went into self imposed exile that lasted for four months.Since he has returned to the circuit, Woods has hardly lived up to this former championship status.Prior to his break from the game, he won fourteen major championships, but since he returned, he has lost fifteen straight tournaments. He is now ranked number five in the world, behind Martin Kaymer (Germany), Lee Westwood and Luke Donald (UK) and Graeme McDowell of Ireland.
