CCU women's golf get first at regional at frist day
NCAA Women's East Regional golf tournament was a perfect storm of sorts for the Coastal Carolina women's golf team - in a very good way.The Chants' top four players are among the top 19 individuals. Junior Kaitlin Higginbotham shot a 1-under 71 and is tied for sixth while freshman Courtney Boe and senior Alicia Grier each shot 1-over 73 and are tied for 19th. CCU's Brittany Henderson shot a 5-over 77 and is tied for 70th. Alexander's round started on the back nine and included birdies on the par-3 13th and par-5 16th, a bogey on McIlroy Was Unsure To Win Masters the par-4 17th and then back-to-back birdies on par-4s No. 18 and No. 1. She is tied with Florida State's Jesica Negron while three players, including North Carolina's Catherine O'Donnell, are one shot back.California is third, North Carolina fourth and Arizona State and Purdue are tied for fifth in the team standings.The second round is today and the third round is Saturday. The top eight teams along with the top two solo individuals advance to the NCAA women's golf championships.WELLINGTON, Fla. The medalist score of 132 was the highest since 1989.Surfside Beach's Sammy Truett and Charleston's Bert Atkinson teamed to shoot even-par to finish tied for 44th and miss the cut.Match play begins today at Camden Country Club.Former N.C.
