Teach Kids Golf Values

Teach Kids Golf Values

Integrity, courtesy, respect--all are values we want to see in our kids. One Colorado group is trying to teach children these values through the game of golf. The PGA Golf in Schools program paid a visit to Orchard Avenue Elementary today.Golfers were on hand to meet the kids and show them how the same values they use on the green apply to life."Golf is a great game," says Mike Mendelson from Bookcliff Country Club. "People that play the game know the values that are incorporated into the game--honesty, integrity. It also teaches them how to count, all sorts of great stuff that goes with the game."Golf in School is a state-wide program that's beginning to visit schools from Grand Junction to Colorado Springs. It's offered at no fee to the students or the school. If the program is a hit at Orchard Avenue Elementary, organizers hope to put it in place in more District 51 schools next year.
